Reconditioned turbo

The Enduro had a restart problem after stopping for 15 minutes at the end of a normal run. I'd go into the shops and come out to restart the car and promptly fill the car park with blue smoke. An injector replacement helped, but it still smoked on occasion. Theory is that the oil seal into the hot side of the turbocharger may be compromised, and this lets a drop or two of oil out into the exhaust turbine area when hot. Injectors

In an effort to narrow-down a smokey exhaust on startup, I decided to replace all four CIS injectors. One was leaking slightly when shut down, as proven by removing the whole set while still hot and resting them on the cam cover on a clean piece of paper. Read More...

Ceramic-coated exhaust manifold

After putting up with a noisy exhaust for a few weeks, I decided to replace it with an un-cracked C900T exhaust manifold and then treat it to a ceramic coating. It took a while, but I finally found one on good nick in Melbourne, and from a fellow SCCA member to boot. Read More...
