Injectors

In an effort to narrow-down a smokey exhaust on startup, I decided to replace all four CIS injectors. One was leaking slightly when shut down, as proven by removing the whole set while still hot and resting them on the cam cover on a clean piece of paper. A small pool of fuel was evident on injector #2 after a short time. Fuel consumption on a long-ish run that week was around 12.5L/100km, which certainly isn't wonderful.

Replacing the set (AU$70 each) instantly made the car feel smoother at idle, and in slow-moving traffic it was suddenly behaving like a well-mannered new car again. Acceleration is smoother as well, although I can't really tell what the difference is at top end as I have nowhere to really try it.

In any case, fuel consumption on a 700km run to Canberra and back to see Mark Kostyrko (Enduro Three) this weekend was calculated to now be 9.57L/100km - a remarkable improvement.
